Get to know Coach Kalama
Brooke Kalama is not new to hard work and dedication. Education in a must in her book. She requires all her student-athletes to work just as hard in the classroom.
Brooke put in the work to complete her high school and college education. She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management, Accounting Emphasis at Utah Valley University.
While working hard to earn an education is important to her, she is determined to build a winning program that supports the ideal that "hard work pays off."
Brooke started playing basketball as a freshman in high school. She learned the game quickly and earned her way to a starting position on the freshman team that year. It was the very next year as a Sophomore, she was starting JV as well as getting minutes with Varsity. Brooke only thought in terms of Wins and Learns. "All L's are a reflection of what I needed to Learn, " she says.
Brooke won back-to-back 2A state championships as a starting Forward her Junior and Senior year, and was named "2A State MVP" her senior year. She went on to play college basketball on scholarship.
Coach Brooke Kalama has four children (2 girls, 2 boys), 5 grandchildren (4 girls, 1 boy), and 3 bonus kids (2 daughters-in-law, and 1 son-in-law). Family is the pillar of her world. She loves that she gets to be part of the community and mentoring student-athletes. She is up for the task of "paying it forward" as a tribute to all the coaches and administrators that helped her along the way.
